Purpose
The Vulcan Hybrid X is an industrial-grade, state-of-the-art UV LED hybrid printer manufactured by ColorJet. Representing a £120,000 investment for Zell-em Ltd. and Grantham’s Signs, this production powerhouse seamlessly switches between flatbed printing (for rigid boards and sheet media) and roll-to-roll printing (for flexible vinyls, banners, and backlit films). Positioned as Zell-em’s primary day-to-day production engine, the Vulcan Hybrid X delivers high-speed, high-resolution output across both rigid substrates (up to 3200mm x 2500mm in landscape) and continuous flexible media up to 3.2 metres wide. It guarantees unmatched colour consistency across mixed-media, multi-element campaigns—ensuring every element of a client's branding matches flawlessly.
History
Installed in April 2026 at Zell-em’s production headquarters in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, the Vulcan Hybrid X was acquired as a strategic investment to significantly expand large-format print capacity and balance factory workflows. Unifying production capabilities following the consolidation of Grantham’s Signs (famous for installing the world's largest recorded sign on the Blackpool Tower) under the Zell-em Ltd. banner, this addition reinforces Zell-em’s 80-year heritage of British print excellence. It sits alongside dedicated flatbed platforms and roll-to-roll machines to optimize throughput, ensure faster job turnarounds, and maintain strict colour uniformity across complex architectural and promotional branding projects.
